All photopolymer resins experience some volume reduction as liquid monomers bind together. That is chemistry, not a defect. But excessive or unpredictable shrinkage is unacceptable in dental work — on a removable die or an implant analog model, a small dimensional shift becomes an ill-fitting restoration. Here are the best practices for keeping it under control.
Dial in Your Exposure Settings
Getting exposure settings right can be time-consuming, especially when switching between resins, printers or LCD screens. With Rezinate R101 Model and R105 Precision Model, you don’t have to figure it out yourself. Rezinate provides plug-and-play print profiles calibrated for supported printers, taking the guesswork out of exposure settings. Simply select the recommended Rezinate profile for your printer, load your resin, and start printing with settings designed to deliver consistent, accurate results without repeated calibration trials.
Standardize Your Wash and Cure Routine
Inconsistent post-processing produces inconsistent shrinkage, which is worse than a known, repeatable one. Don’t over-soak models in IPA, dry them completely before curing, and use a heated curing chamber so dimensions lock in evenly rather than surface-first.
Store Models Correctly
Heat, sunlight and prolonged UV exposure continue to act on a cured model. Keep finished models away from direct sunlight and hot surfaces, especially any model that will be re-seated with dies or analogs weeks after it was printed.
Start with Low-Shrinkage Chemistry
Technique can only compensate so far. High-quality dental resins are formulated with specific photoinitiators and oligomers that minimise volumetric shift during polymerisation — that work happens in the chemistry, before the resin ever reaches your vat.
For general study and working models, Rezinate R101 Model gives you fast, stable, everyday output. Where shrinkage is the deciding factor — removable dies, crown fit tests, implant analog models Rezinate R105 Precision Model is formulated for near-zero volumetric shrinkage and long-term dimensional retention. Both are manufactured in India for 2K–16K LCD printers, with technical support you can actually reach.
